Babydoll Southdown Miniature Sheep at Four Oaks Farm |
||
Facts and Fun about "Babydolls". Recently, a first time visitor to our farm remarked about "those sheep with the human looking faces!" He was really taken by them and I was thrilled by his intrigue. That "face" is what first caught my interst in these lovely sheep. Of course, they are much more than just their pretty faces. This remarkable breed originated in Sussex County, England and are one of the oldest known purebred sheep in the world. What do breeders say about these sheep? For those interested in spinning, the Babydolls have a short staple, yet fine fleece. I understand they have a good flavorful meat for those who'd like meat for their freezers, although there are no cute little sheep in my freezer! :) They are suitable for small acreage. Babydolls can make wonderful pets and can be used as a 4H project. Hate lawn mowing? Employ your "Babydolls" to do the job. They'll enjoy taking that chore off of your hands and will fertilize along the way! Ram lamb "Rigby" Babydoll Home Page |
